Itinerary:

DAY 1

Fes – Ifrane – Cedars Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Your 4-day tour from Fes to Marrakech begins with an early pickup from your hotel or the airport. Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains to Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” then continue to the cedar forest to see Barbary macaques. After lunch in Midelt, drive through the scenic Ziz Valley and its palm groves before reaching Merzouga. In the afternoon, enjoy a camel ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi and watch the sunset. Spend the night at a Sahara desert camp with dinner, Berber music, and traditional entertainment under the stars.

DAY 2

Explore Merzouga – Nomads – Khamlia – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga

Wake up early to enjoy the spectacular Sahara Desert sunrise before breakfast. Today, explore the Merzouga region by 4x4, visiting the ancient mines and meeting nomadic families to learn about their traditional lifestyle. Continue to Khamlia village to experience authentic Gnawa music and culture. After lunch, visit the palm grove and Merzouga Lake, also known as Flamingo Lake. Return to your hotel near the dunes for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 3

Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

After breakfast, leave the Sahara and travel to Rissani, an important historic market town. Continue to Erfoud, famous for its fossils and traditional fossil workshops. The journey then takes you through palm groves and Berber villages to the spectacular Todra Gorges, surrounded by towering red cliffs. After exploring the gorge, continue to Dades Valley and visit the famous Monkey Fingers rock formations. Spend the night in a comfortable hotel in the valley.

DAY 4

Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

After breakfast, drive through the beautiful Rose Valley and continue to the palm groves of Skoura. Visit Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara,” and explore its famous film studios or Taourirt Kasbah. Next, visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous filming location. Finally, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass before arriving in Marrakech in the evening, marking the end of your Fes to Marrakech desert tour.

  • The best time are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) because the weather is generally moderate and pleasant. However, the Sahara desert can be attractive any time of any year.   • Desert wear should be relatively free-fitting for the day and warmer during the night. High temperatures range during a day can decrease sharply during the night. Also, also bring a hat, Sunglasses, and Sunblock for the sun. We recommend taking only some water, snacks and camera for the camel ride and lighter bags in the hotel.

  • Yes the tour is appropriate for families and children of all ages are welcome. It remains safe and comfortable from start to end and suffices to say that children will enjoy the journey.
