Itinerary:

DAY 1

Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Start your 2-day Fes desert tour with an early pickup from your hotel or Fes airport. Travel through Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and stop at the Cedar Forest to see Barbary macaques. Continue to Midelt for lunch before crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains and the scenic Ziz Valley. In the afternoon, arrive in Merzouga and enjoy a camel ride across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. Watch the sunset before reaching your Sahara desert camp for dinner, Berber music, and an overnight stay under the stars.

DAY 2

Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Ziz Valley – Ifrane – Fes

Wake up early to enjoy a beautiful Sahara sunrise before returning to Merzouga by camel. Continue to Rissani, famous for its traditional souk and historic Tafilalet region. Then visit Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops, before driving through the scenic Ziz Valley. Stop for panoramic views of the palm-filled valley, then continue through the Middle Atlas and Ifrane before returning to Fes.   • Normally there is no Wi-Fi available right at the desert camp as you are surrounded with tranquility of the desert life. In this case, you may still have the facility for a mobile reception.

  • Of course that is allowed; people can travel solo. It’s also possible to choose private or shared ones, prices may vary depending on the choice.

  • After giving our recommendations on what should be carried we recommend light and comfortable dressing code, sunscreen, hat, scarf and flash light. Do not leave the house without a camera for the great views!

  • The entire touring on camels takes about 1-1.5 hours and there is relatively low rate of accidents. Qualified tour operators will also make the trip more comfortable and as easy as possible.

  • Of course! If the services of a camel are not welcome, we can organize transport to the camp by 4 by 4 vehicles.

  • Absolutely, vegetarian, vegan, and any other special dietary requirements we will be glad to meet. You are kindly requested to let us know beforehand as a way of planning for your arrival in advance.

  • Your bag is sufficient; you don’t have to bring a sleeping bag. The desert camp has clean good beds, and the tents are well fitted for the night.

  • It would be wise to wear comfortable clothes and shoes and not fancy ones that you wouldn’t be comfortable wearing when you are sanding around. Use long pants, a hat and sun-glasses to avoid the hot sun during the tour.
