This is a day trip from Ouarzazate that offers one of the most amazing desert experiences in the whole of Morocco. Nested on the interface Between the Saharan and Sahel formations, the dunes of the Zagora are stunning sand formations that stretch in deserts. It will suit all those, who would like to see the magical sandy landscapes of the Moroccan desert without being too far from Ouarzazate. This journey also takes you through picturesque Berber villages areas of palms and beautiful desert before getting to the dunes for camel riding and interaction with Saharan life.
8:00 AM – Leaving Ouarzazate: Your day of orientation begins with a pick up from your hotel in Ouarzazate. From here we turn south towards the destination of Zagora we pass by Draa Valley which is a very greenery region with many date palm trees and Berber peoples’ kasbah and small villages.
10:30 AM – Visit the Draa Valley: On the way there you will have a chance to see beautiful Draa valley with its famous palm groves and ancient kasbahs. There you can shoot the photo and feel a tropical view of the island amidst the desert territories.
12:00 PM – Arrival in Zagora: Lastly, upon reaching the heartland country valley after valley we get to Zagora which is a small desert village standing at the edge of the sandy kingdom of Sahara. You will have a short time to wander around the town and take a picture with the famous “Tombouctou 52 days” sign now a symbol of the historical caravans’ routes of the zone.
1::00 P.M.CAMEL RIDING to the Dunes: And then you will go for a camel riding tour of the Zagora dunes, which is about 20 minutes away from the town. When driving across the sand you are afforded the opportunity of viewing the splendid sight of vast sand dunes which stretch to the horizon.
2:00 PM – Lunch in the Desert: When arriving to the dunes you will have a lunch in Berber tent in the middle of the desert. The meal will be taken under the acacia tree canopy in a tent to allow you to enjoy the scenery of the Sahara.
3:00 PM – Relax and Explore the DunesFor the next period of time, offered to you after lunch, you can go to the dunes on foot to make some photos or, on the contrary, you can sit and meditate in steadfastness of the desert. For those willing one more short camel treck is available and then, of course, the sunset on the dunes!
4:30 PM – Return to Zagora: After our visit of the dunes, it is back to Zagora by camel with a transfer by vehicle back to Ouarzazate for you.
6:30 PM – Arrival in Ouarzazate: You will return to Ouarzazate in the evening, finding a close to one of the most incredible day tours to the Zagora dunes.
