the Day Trip from Fes to Ifrane and Michlifen Ski Resort

8:00 AM – Departure from Fes: This begins with a comfortable hotel pick up in Fes early in the morning. The private driver will prefer to do a sight seeing where he will take you through the Morocco Middle Atlas mountains. It will be about 1,5- 2 hours on the road that will show you marvelous views to valleys, forests and sheperd’s small houses.

9:30 AM – Arrival in Ifrane: Ifrane can delight the eye with European type of houses and many trees and green gardens. When you get there, for a start, go for a walk round the town to see the views, the streets, parks and gardens. Green spaces in Ifrane are well maintained and due to its climatically less hot, it is the perfect place to have a walk and rest. You can also go round the Al Akhawayn University, a private liberal arts University which was constructed in the traditional bowl of an American campus.

10:30 AM – Visit the Lion Stone: The Lion Stone is one of the most notable sights of the town: it represents a lion lying on its back. Cut on a big stone, this excellent figure of a lion stands for power and bravery. This is a perfect landmark for taking beautiful pictures and also for admiring the natural sights. The Lion Stone area is also good for a short walk through the quiet cedar woods within a reasonable distance.

11:00 AM – Dayet Aoua Lake.: From Lion Stone, you can move to Dayet Aoua Lake found in Ifrane, though is outside the city. Regarding the current state, much has been said about the fact that the lake is located in a woody area which is perfect for the walk or picnic. It has an added advantage of being a favoured ground for several migratory birds when they come for breeding. You may take part in natural scenic view and pure mountain air of the place.

12:00 PM – Further to Michlifen Ski Resort: Next, get to the Michlifen Ski Resort which is approximately to the south of Ifrane town about 15-20 Minutes’ drive. During winter, it is a haven for skiers and snow boarders due to its slopes its ideal for beginners, intermediate and the professional skier. However Michlifen is attractive also during other seasons, to experience the mountain fresh air ride the cable car, or go for a mountain trekking.

1:30 PM – Optional Lunch in the Resort Restaurant: If you would like to grab a lunch, a traditional Moroccan meal can be eaten at the resort, or in Ifrane city. The dishes that it will serve will include tagine, couscous, and barbeque amid others. Bear in mind that if you arrive in the winter, you can also grab a coffee and sit in front of the fireplace at the ski resort’s restaurant.

2:7.30 PM – Outdoor Activities at Michlifen Resort: In winter season, do not leave the resort without skiing or trying snowboarding on the slopes of the resort. Rentals Equipment available and Ski Instructors are well provided by the resort. For the guests coming in warmer months there are provided the opportunities for hiking on the rocky tours with beautiful view of the neighbor peaks, so you can make a long leisurely walk through the woods.

4:00 PM – Depart for Fes: Fes also known as Fes el-Bali is one of Morocco’s oldest imperial cities and the third largest city in the country After such a fun-filled day at Ifrane and at Michlifen it is time to get ready to travel back to Fes. The said ride going back will take from 1.5 to 2 hours of time. You will arrive in Fes by approximately 6:PM having spent a day in the Moroccan Alps exploring nature, ,history and doing activities outside.
